Raptors lose James Johnson to sprained left ankle

Nikola Jokic dominated the paint for 14 rebounds and scored 27 points to help the Denver Nuggets end the Toronto Raptors win streak at 11 games with a 112-93 win.

Toronto Raptors forward James Johnson left Monday night’s game against the Denver Nuggets with a sprained left ankle and did not return.

The team announced X-rays on the ankle came back negative.

Johnson, who has been filling in for the injured DeMarre Carroll in the Raptors’ starting lineup, suffered the injury late in the second quarter when he collided with Danilo Gallinari at midcourt.

Heading into Monday night’s action, the 28-year-old Johnson was averaging five points and 2.2 rebounds in 38 games for the Raptors this season, starting 18.
