Sitting second in the Eastern Conference standings and fifth in the overall league standings, the Toronto Raptors have been one of the best teams in the league so far this season. However, they’re still well behind the favourites on the odds to win the NBA championship at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark.
Toronto sits midweek at +3300 on the NBA championship odds despite the fact they are 37-18 straight up and a lucrative 30-24-1 against the spread on the season. That has the Raptors three games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers in the overall Eastern Conference standings, and 5.5 games up on the Boston Celtics in the Atlantic Division standings.
But the LeBron-led Cavaliers are sitting at just +350 odds to win the NBA championship, after they came up short in the Finals against the Golden State Warriors last spring. Cleveland is 40-15 SU and 24-29-2 ATS on the season and they’re also 4-2 against Toronto over the past two seasons, including a 122-100 blowout win as eight-point home favourites on Jan. 4.
Cleveland is also the clear -400 favourite on the odds to win the Eastern Conference at the sportsbooks, with Toronto at +550. There’s a big gap after those teams on that futures list, with the Boston Celtics at +1400, the Chicago Bulls at +1600, and the Atlanta Hawks at +2200. The Miami Heat (+2800) and Indiana Pacers (+3300) follow along on the list.
Meanwhile, it’s the Warriors sitting as the -140 favourites on the overall odds to win the NBA championship, with their dominant record of 50-5 SU and 30-23-2 ATS on the season. Golden State is also a perfect 24-0 at home, and scoring a league-best 115.0 points per game.
The San Antonio Spurs follow the Cavaliers at +375 on the NBA championship odds, and they’re not far back of Golden State at 47-9 SU and 34-22 ATS on the season – and also unbeaten at home at 28-0. The Spurs, though, were thumped 120-90 on the road at Golden State in their only meeting so far this season, losing easily as a 4.5-point underdog that day.
The Oklahoma City Thunder (+800) and Los Angeles Clippers (+2000) round out the teams currently ahead of the Raptors on the NBA title odds at the sportsbooks. The Celtics and Bulls are both a step back at +5000, with the Hawks at +6600, and the Heat set at +7500.
