Monta Ellis has told the Milwaukee Bucks that he will opt out of the last year of his contract, according to a report.
ESPN’s Chris Broussard is reporting that the 27-year-old guard, who was set to make $11 million next season, has garnered interest from the Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers.
Ellis signed a six-year, $66-million deal in 2008 with the Golden State Warriors, who drafted the Mississippi native 40th overall in 2005, before being traded to the Bucks in exchange for Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson in March of 2012.
According to Broussard, Ellis and fellow free-agent-to-be Dwight Howard are interested in playing together if a partnership between Howard and point guard Chris Paul is unable to come to fruition.
Ellis, who was reportedly offered a three-year, $36-million deal from Milwaukee earlier this month, led the Bucks with 19.2 points per game last season.
