Report: Raptors reject Pistons’ offer for Gay

Rudy Gay poured in 19 points as the Toronto Raptors pulled away in the fourth quarter

The Toronto Raptors are reported to have quickly rejected the Detroit Pistons offer of Rodney Stuckey and Charlie Villanueva for Rudy Gay.

ESPN’s  Brian Windhorst first reported the offer on Tuesday night.

The Raptors acquired Gay in a three-team deal last season that included the aforementioned Pistons. He played in 33 games for Toronto, averaging 19.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

Gay, who set a franchise record by scoring 76 points in his first three games with the Raps, is set to make more than $37 million over the final two years of his contract with Toronto.

Both Stuckey and Villanueva, who was drafted by the Raptors seventh overall in the 2005 NBA draft, will make $8.5 million in the last year of their contracts next season.

The Raptors recently agreed to trade embattled forward Andrea Bargnani to the New York Knicks. The deal won’t be official until July 10.
