The Washington Wizards have agreed to a four-year, $170 million extension with John Wall.
Wall’s extension will start once his current five-year deal expires at the end of the 2018-19 season. His new “supermax” extension with the Wizards also reportedly includes a trade kicker and a player option for his final year.
The four-time all-star was originally drafted by the Wizards with the first overall pick in the 2010 Draft.
During the 2016-17 season, Wall set career-highs with 23.1 points on 45.1 per cent shooting from the field to go along with 10.7 assists and two steals a game. His performance landed him on the All-NBA third team, which allowed the Kentucky product to sign a supermax extension this summer.
Wall also led the Wizards last season to the second-round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, before losing to the Boston Celtics in seven games.
Earlier in July, the Wizards were able to keep their core together by re-signing restricted free agent Otto Porter Jr. to a four-year, $106 million deal. Wall’s backcourt partner Bradley Beal signed a five-year, $128 million deal with Washington last summer.
