With the Los Angeles Clippers afraid to lose star point guard Chris Paul in free agency, they have reignited trade talks with the Boston Celtics, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Clippers had walked away from the bargaining table after they felt Boston’s demands were too high for the services of Celtics coach Doc Rivers and power forward Kevin Garnett but Paul, who will be a free agent on July 1, let it be known that he would like Los Angeles to re-enter discussions.

Much of the framework for a deal is believed to be in place but the sticking point appears to be a first-round draft pick.

The Clippers are expected to send centre DeAndre Jordan to the Celtics for Garnett. In a separate deal the Celtics are asking for a pair of first-round picks to release Rivers from his contract. The Clippers are reportedly willing to part with just one of the picks.

“The money is not a hang-up in this right now,” a league source told Yahoo! Sports. “It’s about the draft pick.”
