Kalamian reportedly interviewed for the then-vacant head coaching position for the Rockets, eventually filled by Mike D’Antoni, and another assistant gig with the Wizards where he would’ve been reunited with Scott Brooks, who he spent six seasons with in Oklahoma City before leaving to join the Raptors’ staff.
This past season was Kalamian’s first with Toronto, but he worked with Casey before, between 2005-2007, with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Raptors won a franchise-best 56 games and made their first-ever Eastern Conference Finals appearance with Kalamian on staff this season. Including this most recent run, Kalamian has now coached in four conference finals in six years.
