There’s a battle being waged for the services of Pau Gasol, and the Toronto Raptors are right in the mix.
The Raptors and San Antonio Spurs are “currently the frontrunners” to land the 35-year-old power forward, according to ESPN’s Chris Broussard, with the Portland Trail Blazers also in the running.
Over the weekend, ESPN’s Marc Stein reported that the Raptors were among four suitors for Gasol and that a final call on his next destination would likely come following the Kevin Durant decision.
Gasol opted out of his contract with the Chicago Bulls on June 27 after averaging 16.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.0 blocks in 72 games last season while shooting 46.9 per cent from the floor.
