The Houston Rockets are fearful that point guard Chris Paul could be out for a month with a knee injury, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.
Stein also reported that the Rockets listed Paul as day-to-day and has been ruled out of the team’s home opener on Saturday. Eric Gordon will start in his place.
Paul, acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers in the summer, has been dealing with soreness, bruising and flaring in his knee since the latter stages of the pre-season. He played in the 122-121 win over the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night, but only had four points in the victory.
Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni was initially optimistic about Paul’s status for Saturday, but that has clearly changed.
Stein also claimed that Houston is will be cautious with Paul’s knee as the team obviously has high expectations for the season.
