Manu Ginobili and the Spurs are finalizing details on a contract that would see the veteran return to San Antonio for a 16th NBA season, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Ginobili, 39, has spent his entire NBA career with the Spurs, joining the franchise for the 2002-03 season as a 25-year-old. He has spent the majority of his time in the league as a reserve, embracing the role and frequently finding himself in the conversation for the Sixth Man of the Year Award. Ginobili won the honour in 2007-08.
The native of Argentina averaged 7.5 points and 2.7 assists per game in 2016-17, shooting a career-worst 39 per cent from the field. He has posted a career stat line of 13.6 points, 3.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds.
Ginobili is a four-time NBA champion and two-time all-star, helping the Spurs remain one of the most consistent teams in league history. San Antonio has made the playoffs in every year since originally signing Ginobili and last missed the post-season in 1996-97.
