With a win over the Detroit Pistons Sunday, Minnesota coach Rick Adelman recorded his 1,000th NBA win but that total may stop rising soon.

The well-respected Adelman is likely to retire at season’s end to be with his ailing wife according to NBA.com’s Scott Howard-Cooper.

Adelman missed 11 games in January to be with his ailing wife who has been troubled by seizures for which doctors can’t figure out the cause of.

Adelman still has two years remaining on his current contract and his first season has been considered a success as he has left the injury-riddled Timberwolves to a 29-48 record.
