Anthony Bennett will not be headed to the Philadelphia 76ers after all.
The Minnesota Timberwolves will retain the Brampton, Ont., native in a blockbuster trade that will send Kevin Love to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Bennett and fellow Canadian first overall pick Andrew Wiggins, according to Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun,.
It was widely speculated that Bennett would be dealt to the Timberwolves then shipped to Philadelphia in exchange for forward Thaddeus Young.
Bennett averaged 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in his rookie campaign.
Love will join an emerging contender in Cleveland, led by LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, while Minnesota will build its future around the Canadian duo.
