As expected, the Philadelphia 76ers will take LSU forward Ben Simmons with the first overall pick in Thursday’s NBA draft, according to reports.
Simmons, who was in Philadelphia on Tuesday to work out for the 76ers, is the consensus No. 1 pick in this year’s draft. The 6-foot-10, 260-pound Melbourne, Australia, native averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 2.0 steals this past season on a disappointing LSU team.
The 76ers haven’t picked first overall since drafting Hall of Famer Allen Iverson in 1996.
Duke forward Brandon Ingram is expected to go second overall to the Los Angeles Lakers.
