SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Ben McLemore has signed his rookie contract with the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings announced Saturday night that the seventh overall pick in the NBA draft made his first deal official. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

McLemore averaged 15.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and two assists on a Kansas team that went 31-6 and won a share of its ninth straight Big 12 title last season. He shot nearly 50 per cent overall and 42 per cent from 3-point range.

McLemore had to redshirt during the 2011-12 season when he was declared a partial academic qualifier by the NCAA. He worked that year to become eligible and made the most of his only season in Lawrence, earning second-team All-America honours and breaking Danny Manning’s freshman scoring record at Kansas.
