‘Summer of J.R.’ video game will make you forget all about Pokemon Go

File this under: very important stuff…

It’s been an eventful month or so for free agent J.R. Smith. It began with a pair of clutch shots late in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, helping to seal the Cleveland Cavaliers’ first title. It was then followed up by a shirtless, champagne-soaked romp in Las Vegas before a return to Cleveland and another shirtless appearance, this time at the Cavs’ wild championship parade.

The J.R. Smith show spawned plenty of Internet stuff, such as:

El Padrino on Twitter

Mr. Portland on Twitter

There’s even been a T-shirt made in the exact replica of Smith’s body (Nigel Tufnel eat your heart out).

And now naturally, courtesy of The Ringer’s Matt Hill, it’s all been encapsulated in early ’90s video game form.

Without further ado, here’s a demo of what’s sure to supplant Pokemon Go as the biggest video game craze of this century, the aptly-titled “Summer of J.R.”:

Wow, J.R. Smith really hates those shirts! He’s like the modern-day version of Navin R. Johnson’s assassin!

Kudos to Hill for absolutely nailing it, though it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise— he’s the same guy who gave the world the legendary Spurs Special Forces cartoons.

Smith is expected to re-sign with the Cavs, but the two camps are reportedly not on the same page when it comes to the terms, so it remains to be seen how the summer of J.R. will wind up.

Well, anyways, carry on with your day.
