MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Timberwolves forward Shabazz Muhammad has undergone season-ending surgery on the middle finger of his left hand.

The team says the operation was performed Monday at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

Muhammad suffered a ruptured ligament when his finger was caught in Andrew Wiggins’ jersey during practice on Wednesday.

Muhammad was becoming a key player in his second season. He averaged 13.5 points after only 3.9 as a rookie.
