Triple-double off: Westbrook vs. Michael Jordan

Russell Westbrook is the first player since Michael Jordan to have four consecutive triple-doubles after scoring a career-high 49 points, grabbing 16 rebounds, and dishing 10 assists in Oklahoma City’s 123-118 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.

It took an overtime period against the Philadelphia 76ers for Russell Westbrook to notch his tenth assist, but the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar made NBA history last night—the first man to record four consecutive triple-doubles since 1989, when Michael Jordan accomplished the feat.

Of course, you could tack “and then some” onto Jordan’s heroics, because His Airness didn’t stop at four. Or five. Or six.

In the spring of ’89, Jordan managed seven straight triple-doubles. He then took a game off before stringing together three more. On the off night, he scored 40 points on 11-of-18 shooting and added 11 assists.

So, Russell Westbrook isn’t Michael Jordan. No surprise there. But how does the Man in the Mask’s current streak stack up against MJ’s? See for yourself below.
