Twitter map shows Raptors own Canada, almost

Toronto Raptors fans (Darren Calabrese/AP)

On Wednesday, Twitter rolled out a new map that shows which NBA teams are most followed throughout different regions in Canada and the United States.

Unsurprisingly, the Toronto Raptors dominate most of Canada with some small pockets of fans found within the most curious areas of the United States, such as Nebraska and Kansas.

Looking at the overall perspective of the map it seems clear that fans of the NBA most closely affiliate themselves with the Los Angeles Lakers, despite their dreadful 12-27 record this season.

Not even Canada is immune to “Lakers-itis” as most parts of British Columbia and smaller regions spread throughout the country have an affinity to Los Angeles.

But seriously B.C., why all Lakers love? One would think if the team isn’t the Raptors it would be the Portland Trail Blazers due to proximity, but Los Angeles? I guess Vancouver really is more Hollywood North than Toronto is.
