To say that Tuesday was a nightmare in the Chicago sports scene would be an understatement.
Blackhawks leading-scorer Patrick Kane took a nasty spill into the boards against the Florida Panthers, and could reportedly miss up to 10 weeks of action with an upper-body injury.
Entrenched in the MVP race, Kane has registered 27 goals and 37 assists on the season.
The Bulls also received devastating news as point guard Derrick Rose has suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee. It is unknown when the injury was sustained.
Rose was sidelined for the majority of the 2013-14 season with the same issue, while the 26-year-old missed the entire 2012-13 campaign with a torn ACL in his left knee.
Appearing in 46 games, Rose is averaging 18.4 points and 5.0 assists on the year.
Fans and players alike took to Twitter to offer their condolences to the two superstars. Some are fearful of another injury looming because of the old ‘things happen in threes’ rule.
