What we learned from Complex Q&A with Raptors’ Patterson, Johnson

The Raptors got the win in London while coach Casey suggests they still need to be better. Sportsnet's Michael Grange joins Tim and Sid to discuss what should considered a successful season for the Raps.

As the Toronto Raptors return home from London, Patrick Patterson is a bit upset that he didn’t get a chance to watch his favourite Premier League team in action.

That would be Manchester City.

Patterson, along with James Johnson, appeared in an exclusive interview with Complex Magazine while on the trip, revealing some noteworthy bits of information about Toronto’s basketball team.

1. Meek Mill is banned

When it comes to locker-room music, Hip-Hop is the genre of choice. There is one rule when it comes to this: absolutely no Meek Mill.

“Oh yeah, Meek Mill has been banned for a long time,” said Patterson. “No one plays Meek Mill.”

2. DeRozan, the king of sneakers

Johnson loves to collect Jordans, but admits that his closet does not compare to the one owned by Raptors star DeMar DeRozan.

“My closet is crazy, I’ve got every pair of Jordans you can possibly think of—plus I’ve got a bit of designer stuff,” said Johnson.

“The biggest closet is probably DeMar DeRozan’s, he’s got a mean sneaker game.”

3. FIFA over NBA 2K

When it comes to video games, the Raptors’ locker room favours Ronaldo and Messi to LeBron and Curry. Patterson, in fact, always chooses De Bruyne and Aguero.

“FIFA’s big in my life and in our locker room there’s a couple of guys—Terrence Ross, Bruno, Lucas Nogueira—that keep up with it,” explains Patterson.

“The only team I choose to play as is Manchester City.”
