TORONTO — The Canadian Junior Men’s National Team training camp roster was announced on Friday and it includes several of Canada’s top young players including Andrew Wiggins, who will play for Kansas next fall, and Tyler Ennis, who is set to become a freshman at Syracuse.

Among the other players who will compete for a job are Duane Notice (South Carolina), Xavier Rathan-Mayes (Florida St.) and Trey Lyles, who is widely considered to be one of the Top-10 high school players of the 2014 graduating class south of the border.

The team will be led by Ryerson coach Roy Rana who is in his second year in charge. Last summer, he led the team to a third-place finish at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Men.

“We have a tough task ahead of us, but I believe in the strength, ability and athleticism of the group that we have assembled,” Rana said. “Last summer was an excellent learning experience for these young men. Now it’s time to focus that growth with hard work and prepare for this summer.”

On Tuesday, hopefuls will be split into two groups to compete against one another in front of fans for the 2013 edition of the Red and White intrasquad game.

“This game is our chance to bring-in our fans and thank them for their support,” Canada Basketball’s assistant general manager Rowan Barrett said. “We want the sports community in this country to be involved with Canada Basketball and be inspired by the stories of the junior men’s team. The close quarters of Kerr Hall will let our fans get up-close and personal with this amazing group of young men.”

Following training camp, the team will play a pair of exhibition games against Brazil and the United States before competing in the FIBA U19 World Championship in the Czech Republic. The competition will run from June 27 until July 7.

“These athletes have shown tremendous skill for their respective teams and in the past with the National Team program. We’re very excited that they are taking the next step in their development with this team,” Barrett said.
