If Kyle Lowry eventually takes full advantage of his talent in Toronto, some of the credit will have to be given to Chauncey Billups, according to veteran NBA Insider Ric Bucher.
When the Clippers visited Toronto in early February, the point guards broke bread with Billups, offering up some friendly advice for his rival from Toronto who is said to have had some issues adapting in Hogtown early.
Toronto is believed to have considered moving Lowry instead of Calderon but eventually decided that his more up-tempo style would be a better fit going forward with the athletic bunch Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo has pieced together in Toronto.
Bucher wrote on Sulia, “Billups had dinner with Lowry and impressed upon him that the Raptors must have a lot of faith in him to move (Jose) Calderon. Billups also suggested he take full advantage of that trust and not screw up the relationship a second time.”
