Birthplace:

Leeds, England

First media job:

After 6 or 7 months of blogging on my own, I was hired in 2011 by SB Nation to start and manage their Toronto FC blog Waking the Red.

Career highlight:

I've only been writing for a year and a half or so, so if it's not too obsequious, I'd say getting asked to write for Sportsnet is the highlight so far. I can give you a good lowlight no problem. I've abandoned my seat in the stands at Bmo Field to be in the pressbox for two TFC games, they lost 3-0 to DC United, and 6-2 to Philadelphia. Won't be doing that again.

Special interests/hobbies:

Aside from blogging and watching soccer, I play golf badly and fantasy hockey takes up a lot of my time. I love to travel, whether going back to England and the rest of Europe, or going down to Wine country in Niagara. I try to have at least one long weekend around a TFC game each season, the weekend's always fun, the results are usually less so.

Bio: I was born and grew up in England which is when I learnt to love football. After a brief bit of early childhood gloryhunting with Liverpool, I fell into supporting my local team Darlington. I emigrated to Canada at the age of 21, and after a few years in Vancouver, have lived in Toronto since 2000. After a wary start, I've been a TFC season ticket holder since 2009. Add in Canada, and supporting local football hasn't been entirely kind to me, thus inspiring my first blog Cruel Geography, which has led to here and who knows where next.
