Bio:

"I was born in Trenton, Ontario, where I played minor hockey and a year of Junior B. It was a great experience to play in a small town whose major industry was, and still is, the Air Force.

Once I entered the ranks of Junior A Hockey, I moved to Peterborough to play for Roger Nielson and the Petes. Nielson is one of the best coaches, and more importantly, one of the best people you could ever meet.

I was drafted by St. Louis and played a couple of years in the Minors before jumping to the WHA. My coach in Minnesota was the always-colourful Harry Neale. I was lucky to play in three All-star games during my six years in the WHA, and was part of the expansion that included Hartford, Quebec, Winnipeg, and Edmonton. I still look back fondly on the great time I had playing in the WHA. I was blessed enough to have been teammates with hockey greats like Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull, Johnny McKenzie, Mike Walton, and my favorite, Dave Keon.

I played on three different teams in the NHL: the Whalers, the Nordiques, and the Canucks. My NHL high point was definitely playing in the 1983 NHL All-star game at Long Island. Had Wayne Gretzky not scored four goals in the last ten minutes, I was a lock for the MVP, and the car that goes along with it. (Oh well, my Micra is okay, I guess.) When I retired from my playing days, I was fortunate enough to get a job on Hockey Night in Canada. I did this from 1986 to 1998, when I chose to work on other hockey broadcasts. Commentating is as close to playing the game as you can get without being behind the bench - and you know how often those coaches get fired!

I am married and have two darling daughters. I feel lucky to have been involved in the game I love for almost my entire life and hope this shows in the broadcasts I do."
