Birthplace:

Dublin, Ireland

First media job:

Stockwatch Journalism Apprentice (2009)

Career highlight:

Getting the chance to cover the Vancouver Whitecaps on opening day at Empire Field has been the highlight of my young career to date. Having been raised in B.C., the opportunity to regularly watch a top-tier professional soccer team in this province, let alone cover it, seemed an impossibility not that long ago. Getting the chance to watch the team play in the newly renovated BC Place for the first time was also a special occasion, and I look forward to seeing how the Whitecaps and soccer evolve in this province in the seasons to come.

Special interests/hobbies:

I'm a big reader, and especially enjoy learning as much as I can about history. I studied European history at the University of Victoria before deciding to turn my focus to journalism in recent years. As well as contributing soccer content to a number of online sites, I love to play the game recreationally.

Bio: Born in Dublin, Ireland, and raised in Victoria, B.C., my first memories involve kicking a ball around while wearing my Irish soccer tracksuit. Since then I've loved the game, whether that was playing, watching, or now, covering it for a number of soccer websites. After moving to Vancouver to initially pursue a job in business journalism with Stockwatch, I enrolled in the British Columbia Institute of Technology's Broadcast and Online Journalism Program looking to gain more technical skills. Midway through the program I was hired by MLSsoccer.com as the Vancouver Whitecaps beat reporter for the league website based on coverage I provided for RedNation Online, a Canadian soccer website. My goal is to provide insightful, critical and informative soccer content in the print, web and broadcast mediums in the years to come.
