Birthplace:
I was a terrible disc jockey - but I realized just before I got fired. I offered to work in the sports department of a local radio station on the south coast of England. The station boss gave me three months to prove myself. A quarter of a century later, I'm still standing!
I came to Canada in 2004. Two years earlier I had met a smart, attractive Montrealer and, as romance blossomed, we had a big question to answer. Was she coming to the UK or was I coming to Canada? It was never a contest. Despite a secure career with the BBC, it was time for me to take a leap of faith.
I have never regretted the decision. Canada is a wonderful country which has given me a new home and a new way of life. In the summer of 2010, I proudly became a Canadian citizen. Of course I miss family in the UK, but Canada is home to me.
My children love this place! I am extremely proud of my four grown-up daughters who fly over to visit as often as time and money allow. They all have careers in England but I'm secretly hoping one or two of them will re-locate to the Great White North!
Professionally, I have been fortunate to work with the best in the business. From my start with British Forces radio, through to the BBC, CBC, TLN, Rogers Sportsnet, TSN and Sportsnet Radio The FAN 590, I continue to learn and challenge myself to improve.
But, if I never have to get a 'proper' job, you won't hear me complaining!
London, England
Career highlight:Calling Toronto FC's first ever goal in Major League Soccer in 2007, interviewing my boyhood hero Jack Nicklaus during the (British) Open Golf Championship and covering Liverpool FC during their treble-winning season of 2001.
Special interests/hobbies:I love writing, theatre, music and photography. I could spend the rest of my life on some of the world’s great golf courses, but the bills have to be paid!
Bio: I am lucky. I mean it. How many of us get paid to do something which started as a hobby?
