Well the hope for Canada’s first Stanley Cup since 1993 is over for another season as the Ottawa Senators fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Toronto Maple Leafs collapsed in the third period when leading the Boston Bruins 4-1 in Game 7. Here’s a quick recap of each series.
By now we all know about the collapse of the Leafs. For the past nine years the Leafs have gone off the cliff at some point during the season. Unfortunately this year they waited until the playoffs to go off the cliff. Oh well, they still did better than the Montreal Canadiens.
Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins
Well this young Leafs team sure did bring a lot of excitement to the GTA and Maple Leafs Square. Although it wasn’t the ending they were hoping for, I have no doubt they have learned one heck of a lesson.

Ottawa Senators vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
After having moved onto round two, the Senators have faced a much tougher opponent in the Penguins. Although Jason Spezza returned to the lineup it just wasn’t enough to help the Sens. The next question for Ottawa fans is whether Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson will retire?
Penguins won series 4-1
