In the final week of the shortened NHL regular season, we saw another Canadian NHL team secure a playoff spot while another team saw their chances fall short. With the playoffs just around the corner teams don’t have much time to relax. After all isn’t this what they all play for?
1. Montreal Canadiens
I still feel the Habs are Canada’s best chance at a Stanley Cup. The question will be is Carey Price the goalie to lead this team or will he be replaced by the backup, again?
2. Vancouver Canucks
Oh how things keep getting interesting in Vancouver. Cory Schneider is sidelined with an injury which opens the door once again for Roberto Luongo. I would just love to see Luongo take this team back to the Stanley Cup finals with a better outcome.

3. Toronto Maple Leafs
As everyone in Leafs land are still celebrating the Leafs return to the playoffs after a long nine year hiatus, apparently so are the players. With only one win in three games coming against the Florida Panthers, the Leafs better shake the cobwebs in time for the playoffs.
4. Ottawa Senators
The Senators were Canada’s last team to stake their claim in the playoffs; they also welcomed back stud defenceman Erik Karlsson. Head coach Paul MacLean has done wonders with this team considering all the injuries that he must be a favourite for the Jack Adams Award.
5. Winnipeg Jets
The Jets came oh so close, but unfortunately their flight has been diverted and they will stay grounded until next year. They did provide us with glimpses of what’s to come and head coach Claude Noel’s sound bites will be missed throughout the summer.
6. Edmonton Oilers
In other news the Oilers will have three players representing Canada at the World Senior Hockey Championships. This has got to be something fans are getting tired of hearing. Hopefully old man MacTavish will change this before next spring.
7. Calgary Flames
What more can I say that I haven’t already said about this train wreck? Oh I know, bye Kipper.
