The 2013 NHL Entry Draft has come and gone. Due to the lockout, all seven rounds took place on the same day, leaving lots of room for plenty of action and surprises. For me, here are the five biggest and most surprising moments.
1. Canucks trade Cory Schneider to the Devils
Rumours started swirling Saturday that the Oilers were inquiring about Schneider. Then out of nowhere the Devils step up and grab him

2. Seth Jones slipping to fourth in the first round
For a guy that was ranked number one for most of the season, this was a bit of a shock. And can someone please tell me what were the two Florida teams thinking to let this guy get away? Either way, the Predators are glad they did.
3. The Leafs stepping up to grab Bolland from the Blackhawks
For three draft picks that may never play in NHL, Toronto gets a proven NHL’er, a two-time Stanley Cup champion and a player that knows what it takes to win. We all hope it rubs off on the rest of the dressing room.
4. The lack of activity in the trade department
Leading up to draft day, most of the insiders were saying to expect a lot of movement on the trade front. The biggest trade of the day? The stunning Schneider trade, but not much else.
5. Devils draft Brodeur’s son
A nice surprise at the end the draft with the New Jersey Devils making a trade with the L.A. Kings for a draft pick in the seventh round. Then they used the pick to select the son of All-Star goaltender Martin Brodeur. A real classy thing for the Devils to do for Marty. And hopefully lighting strikes twice for them.
