A featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor has been made official for UFC 189.
The UFC announced the fight will take place July 11 during the organization’s International Fight Week in Las Vegas.
McGregor (17-2) has quickly become one of the most popular fighters in the UFC, amassing a 5-0 record in the Octagon with four of his victories coming by way of TKO. The Irish star is coming off a dominant win over veteran Dennis Siver in Boston on Jan. 18.

Immediately following his win over Siver, the sharp-witted McGregor confronted Aldo, who was sitting cageside.
“Now Jose Aldo will be the next in line,” McGregor told reporters at the post-fight press conference in Boston. “He will find out that it’s not all talk.”
Aldo (25-1) improved to 15-0 under the Zuffa banner at UFC 179 in October when he earned a unanimous decision win over Chad Mendes in a thrilling bout that some called the best fight of 2014.
No other fights have been announced for this event.
