Poland’s Joanna Jedrzejczyk dominated American Jessica Penne to defend her women’s strawweight title in the headliner of a UFC Fight Night event in Berlin, Germany on Saturday.

Jedrzejczyk, a multiple-time world champion kicker and Muay Thai practitioner, looked to establish her striking and late in the opening frame she landed a flurry that knocked Penne to the canvas. Penne managed to survive the round, but midway through the second round, Jedrzejczyk opened up Penne’s nose with a well-timed standing right elbow strike.

Fans in attendance at the O2 World applauded Penne’s heart and determination at the beginning of the third round, however Jedrzejczyk continued to pick her apart with a crisp, clean, versatile striking attack.

Penne (12-3) attempted to revert to her strong grappling skills, but was never able to take Jedrzejczyk down for an extended period of time. Penne eventually wilted and the referee stopped the action with 38 seconds remaining in the third.

Jedrzejczyk improved to 10-0 in her MMA career.

“I’m going to be a champion for a while,” Jedrzejczyk said after her win. “Nobody’s going to take this belt from me.”

Jedrzejczyk originally won the belt at UFC 185 in March when she defeated Carla Esparza with a dominant second-round TKO.

It’s unclear at this point who the next challenger for Jedrzejczyk will be. Rising American star Rose Namajunas is one option. So are Claudia Gadelha and UFC newcomer Jessica Aguilar who are scheduled to face each other at UFC 190 on Aug. 1.

In the co-main event, Tatsuya Kawajiri edged fellow veteran featherweight Dennis Siver by unanimous decision. The preliminary card was packed with action as Makwan Amirkhani, Mairbek Taisumov, Arnold Allen, Scott Askham and Taylor Lapilus each picked up impressive stoppage victories.
