LAS VEGAS — Chris Weidman will defend his middleweight title against Luke Rockhold at UFC 194 in Las Vegas on Dec. 12.

The UFC made the announcement Thursday night.

The main event of UFC 194 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena will be featherweight champion Jose Aldo’s long-awaited matchup with interim champ Conor McGregor, one of the UFC’s most outspoken stars.

Weidman (13-0) has made four straight title defences since claiming his belt from long-reigning champion Anderson Silva in 2013. The Long Island-based fighter easily stopped Vitor Belfort in May.

Rockhold (14-2) is a former Strikeforce middleweight champion on a four-fight winning streak while earning a reputation as an exciting contender.

The UFC initially hoped to hold this bout at Madison Square Garden, but New York still hasn’t legalized mixed martial arts.
