December 8 marks the one-year anniversary of the deal that sent Rudy Gay to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Greivis Vasquez, Patrick Patterson, Chuck Hayes and John Salmons (later shifted to Atlanta for Lou Williams).
Struggling at 6-12 at the time of the trade, the Raptors turned things around in large part thanks to the infusion of depth the deal provided. From Dec. 8 to the end of the 2013-14 season, Toronto went 42-22, finishing atop the Atlantic Division and ending a five-year playoff drought.
So, yeah, the deal was good to the Dinos. But was it better for Gay? We turned to the numbers to find out.
