Money can’t buy everything. Case in point: The ten most expensive sports teams sold since 2000. Money certainly bought them—to the tune of billions of dollars. But did it buy a winner? Not really. Of the 10, only one—Manchester United—has won a league title since 2000. And they’ve actually been getting worse. Some of these teams may be vast investments in championship potential (the Clippers) but some feel like massive money pits (the Bills) or even hugely expensive curses (the Cubs).
