After eight weeks and nearly 18,000 votes, Sportsnet readers have determined Canada’s All-Time Greatest Football Program. And the crown goes to the Queen’s Gaels of Kingston, Ont.
In the final matchup between Queen’s and the Laval Rouge et Or, the Gaels received a slim victory with 51 percent of the more than 5,000 votes cast.
As Sportsnet reader Kevin Brown posted in the comments of the final matchup, “Considering ‘all-time,’ how do you compare a [17]-year program with 100+ years of Queen’s football?”
Looks like a majority of fans agreed with him.
En route to claiming the title, the Queen’s football program ousted the Manitoba Bisons and Western Mustangs, while Laval beat out the Toronto Varsity Blues and St. Mary’s Huskies to reach the final.
