Dickson runs rampant to help X-Men rout Huskies

HALIFAX – Running back Ashton Dickson ran for 161 yards and scored a touchdown to lead the St. Francis Xavier X-Men to a 31-7 victory over the Saint Mary’s Huskies in CIS football action on Friday.

Quarterback Tivon Cook completed 8 of 12 passes for 91 yards and a touchdown for St. FX (1-0), who never trailed in the contest. Receiver Donald Taber also scored a TD for the X-Men.

Kicker Chase Kodejs booted two field goals and a rouge for the only Huskies (0-1) points.

Saint Mary’s quarterbacks Ben Rossong and Scott Borden each had an interception.

CALGARY — Mercer Timmins and Quentin Chown scored two touchdowns apiece as Calgary (1-0) thrashed Alberta (0-1).

SASKATOON, Sask. — Drew Burko passed for 232 yards and four touchdowns, including one to receiver Brydon Ozmun with 9:44 left in the fourth quarter to seal Saskatchewan’s (1-0) win over Manitoba (0-1).

REGINA — Quarterback Cayman Shutter threw for 430 yards and two touchdowns to lead Regina (1-0) over UBC (0-1).
