NORTH SOUND -- The Leeward Islands cruised to an easy eight-wicket win over Canada at the Caribbean Twenty20 cricket championship on Friday behind a game-high 47 runs from Kieran Powell.
Canada (0-2) batted first, but was unable to set a difficult target despite early boundaries from opening partnership Hiral Patel and Zubin Surkari. Canada had put up an attainable 108 runs when the Leeward Islands claimed the final wicket in the last over.
Raza-ur-Rehman led Canada with 30 runs while Patel added 24.
Powell responded with 47 not out, and Javier Liburd added 33 as the Leeward Islands (1-2) reached the necessary 109 runs in just 13.4 overs while losing just two wickets.
Canada next faces Guyana on Tuesday.
