PERTH, Australia — Former Australia spin bowler Brad Hogg will play for the Perth Scorchers in Australia’s Big Bash Twenty20 league from December at the age of 44.

Perth will enter the league as two-time defending champions, having appeared in all four finals of the competition to date.

Hogg, who played seven tests and 123 one-day internationals for Australia, said "I’ve still got goals to play cricket at the highest level, to still have that success. I’m still fit enough and I feel I’m still contributing to the team."

He said "if you’ve still got the gift to play the game of cricket, there’s no point in giving that up."
