EDINBURGH, Scotland — Canada dropped its fourth straight at the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2015, losing by eight wickets Thursday to host Scotland.
The defeat eliminated Canada (0-4-0) from moving on since it cannot crack the top four of the group with two games remaining. The top four teams in Group B, which all have a chance of advancing, are all currently on three wins.
The top six sides in the 14-team tournament will join the ICC’s 10 full members for the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016, which runs March 11 to April 3.
Canada reached 135 for eight in its 20 overs with Navneet Dhaliwal leading the way on 34 not out. Dhaliwal, fifth in the Canadian batting order, and No. 10 Junaid Siddiqui (28 not out) combined for 48 in just under five overs to increase the Canadian total.
Scotland (3-2-0) reached the victory target in the 15th over with opener Kyle Coetzer 51 not out when the Scots finished at 139 for two.
Canada, the only winless team at the tournament, is in Group B with Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Oman, Scotland and Kenya.
Canada’s next game is Friday against the Netherlands (2-2-0).
