KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Alberta’s Kevin Koe and B.C.’s John Morris posted early victories Wednesday to remain tied for top spot at the Canadian men’s curling championship.
Koe improved to 7-1 at the Tim Hortons Brier with a 7-3 win over Nova Scotia’s Jamie Murphy. Koe scored three in the second end and was rarely troubled after that.
Morris kept pace with a 5-3 win over 2006 Olympic champion Brad Gushue of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Gushue scored one in the ninth to make it close, but Morris ran him out of rocks in the 10th.
Manitoba’s Jeff Stoughton (6-2) kept pace with the leaders after a 9-6 win over Northern Ontario’s Jeff Currie.
In other Draw 11 action, New Brunswick downed Prince Edward Island 8-3.
Morris can take over top spot with a Draw 12 win over Ontario. Koe is idle in the afternoon draw.
