Four Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling legends are making their return to the series at the Princess Auto Elite 10.

Jeff Stoughton will skip a special one-event-only Select team featuring third David Nedohin, second Jamie Korab and lead Nolan Thiessen at the fifth Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event of the season running March 16-19 at the Civic Centre in Port Hawkesbury, N.S.

The Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling series announced the full roster of teams Monday. Defending champion Brad Gushue of St. John’s, N.L., Calgary’s Kevin Koe, Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Niklas Edin of Sweden, Saskatoon’s Steve Laycock, Toronto’s John Epping, Peter de Cruz of Switzerland, Winnipeg’s Reid Carruthers and John Morris of Vernon, B.C., round out the field.

The Princess Auto Elite 10 features a match play format where teams compete to win the most ends per game, rather than total points, by either scoring two or more with the hammer or stealing at least one without the hammer.

Stoughton, Nedohin, Korab and Thiessen have won a combined 11 Grand Slam titles.

Port Hawkesbury has a special place in Stoughton’s legacy in the series. Stoughton won the 2013 National at the Civic Centre to complete a career Grand Slam becoming just the fourth skip to accomplish the feat. Stoughton stepped back after the 2015 Players’ Championship and has since worked for Sportsnet as a curling commentator during provincial broadcasts and with Curling Canada as the manager of the mixed doubles program.

Nedohin went out on a high note winning the Players’ Championship in 2014 with Kevin Martin’s team in Summerside, P.E.I. He also won three Grand Slam titles as a member of the famed “Ferbey Four” with Randy Ferbey, Scott Pfeifer and Marcel Rocque. David isn’t the first member of his family to make a curling return this season with his wife Heather Nedohin alternating for Alberta’s Team Kleibrink at provincial playdowns and the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

Korab captured the Olympic gold medal for Canada in 2006 throwing lead stones with Gushue, Mark Nichols, Russ Howard and Mike Adam. He also claimed a world junior championship in 2001 and the National in 2010 with Gushue.

Thiessen won Brier and world championships in 2010 as the lead for Kevin Koe. He also took back-to-back Brier titles in 2014 and 2015. Thiessen announced his departure from competitive curling just under a year ago at the 2016 Humpty’s Champions Cup.
