MILAN, Italy — Bradley Wiggins is planning to remain with Team Sky next season despite being left off the squad’s roster for this year’s Tour de France.

In Italy for a sponsor’s event, the 2012 Tour champion tells the Gazzetta dello Sport that he would also like to attempt the hour record next year, and says “I’ll do it with these bikes because I’m staying with Sky.”

Wiggins’ next big race will be the Spanish Vuelta starting Aug. 23 but he says “my time as a Grand Tour rider has passed. Sure, I will still enter them, but not to win.”

The 34-year-old Wiggins finished ninth in the Paris-Roubaix single-day cobblestone classic in April and says “next year I want to win it. That will be my big goal in 2015.”
