It would appear that finishing at, or near the top of the NHL regular season standings does not get you much these days when it comes to an advantage in the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs. The Stanley Cup final now pits the eighth seed Los Angeles Kings against the sixth seed New Jersey Devils.
Is it time to change the Stanley Cup playoffs in such a way that the top teams during the 82-game regular season get more of a reward, or do you like the current format?

Fan Fuel wants to hear from you. Do you think that the top teams in the regular season deserve more than a one game home ice advantage? Instead of a 4-3 split, perhaps the top-ranked team in the first round should get five home games instead? Or perhaps you are in favour of a first round bye like the NFL?
