The second half of the 2011-2012 NHL regular season is underway and as we head toward the All-Star break, our teams have some soul searching to do.

In a seven-part series, I will present the burning question that will be keeping the players and fans of their favourite Canadian team up at night. Today I look at the Edmonton Oilers and whether their rebuild is on the right track.

The Oilers started the season off with a bang. At the beginning of November they were leading the North West division, five points up on the Vancouver Canucks. The playoffs seemed like they were in reach and the Oilers rebuild a success. But now, Edmonton has fallen to third last in the Western Conference and those playoff hopes seem like a cruel hoax.

Edmonton has finished dead last in the league two years in a row now and it looks like they're going for a third try. Drafting first overall is nice, but what good does it do to stock your cupboard with great talent if you're not going to improve your team while you do it?

The Oilers are in dangerous territory of developing a "culture of losing" that could creep into the minds of the youngsters if they don't turn things around in a hurry.

What do you think the Edmonton Oilers need to do to get the rebuild back on track?
