The Canucks biggest trade need?
BY ROB MACNEIL - FAN FUEL BLOGGER
With the 2012 NHL trade deadline day fast approaching, I wanted to hear from the fans as to what the biggest trade need is for the Vancouver Canucks.
After posting the question in our forums, here are what some of our fans think general manager Mike Gillis needs to focus on before 3pm ET on February 27th. Do you agree?

**Depth on D. I believe we went thru 10 Dmen last year in the playoff run, and even still had multiple injuries to the guys who finished. Look at Hal Gill, Bryan Allen, Adrian Aucoin, Greg Zanon, maybe another offensive style Dman like Marek Zidlicky. - RichmondNuck
**With this possibly being Salo's last year the Canucks need a Dman that can play beside Edler next year. Id like to see a guy with decent speed, has some toughness, decent passer and is more of a defensive Dman. Who would I like to see? Karl Alzner, Bryan Allen, Jason Garrison, Matt Carle. Any one of these guys would fit the bill I would think. - DBsMoustache
**Depth on D. Maybe a Bryan Allen. - Koenig
**Canucks don't need anything. A rental dman would be a nice luxury but it's certainly not a need. Canucks did their big deadline deal in October for Booth. - Bure
**The Nucks need to make a trade that not only helps them in this current Cup run but also helps solidify their defensive corp for years to come ala Detroit, somehow the Nucks should make a run for another big right handed player, I have always advocated for Weber, a BC native and buddy of Hamhuis. A couple of prospects maybe Schroeder and/or Rodin, a couple of number one draft picks, maybe a package including a current dman that the coach isn't hot on, Ballard and a potential top six forward in Raymond, he might thrive in a new environment and picks. All teams can use another good face off guy, goal scorer or a hard hitting third/fourth liner (I wouldn't mind seeing Torres back here). The thing is that the Canucks are already a good team, but they can get better and their window of opportunity is open for a few more years. - TheGuardian
**What about Chris Campoli? Not playing so great this year but a decent depth guy. Not too big of a cap hit either. - KeepsItReal
**The Canucks need right handed d-man who can play the number four spot. Just think of the fire drill that occurred in the Vancouver end when Salo was out with the concussion. This d-man the Canucks aquire does not have to be physical. He just has to be able to get back quickly and make an accurate first pass for the breakout to get the puck out of the D zone quickly. When Salo was out other teams just chipped and chased the puck behind the Vancouver D and then cycled the death out it.
I think Tanev can play the #4 spot but I do think we will see some injuries on defence in the playoffs and the Canucks need insurance.
Up front I think the Canucks are solid from top to bottom IF Bitz can play at 75 per cent of what I have seen from him so far. The only forward that I see as expendable to make room for a number four d-man is Mason Raymond. (apologizes in advance to the MayRay fan club) - topgun
**The Canucks don't have a trade need. they have Parent, Tanev, Baumer in the minors to be behind the likes of Alberts and Rome. All three of those guys could drop in and be a sixth d-man. Tanev maybe even a fourth. Forwards are pretty locked down. the bottom two lines are full of players that can play second and third line. When playoffs come around were going to be relying on secondary scoring and having a Raymond/Hodgson on our third line is only going to help us. No big names. Depth player or two is all we need. - RmSasquatch
