Forget all about the rhetoric and forget all about the animosity that has been front and center lately. The NHL and the NHLPA will get a deal done.
It’s simple, neither side can afford to not get something done and most observers have suggested there is already a “drop dead date” in mind and once that date has been firmly established a deal will magically come about.
It’s the classic game of chicken but both sides fully understand that the game they are playing has to end at some point and thankfully for fans, that mythical date is just around the corner.
There is simply too much to lose by cancelling the entire season and right now Bettman and Fehr are going down to the wire to try and squeeze as much out of this thing as they possibly can for their respective clients.
So, relax, enjoy that eggnog, fill your face with the coveted turkey leg and enjoy your holidays safe in the knowledge that the New Year will most assuredly include our country’s favourite passion.
Then again, I might be wrong… :)
