Fan Fuel: Stanley Cup or bust for Roberto Luongo

BY JAMES HUNT – FAN FUEL BLOGGER

Is it Stanley Cup Final or bust this year for the Vancouver Canucks? More to the point, if the Canucks don’t win their last game of the Stanley Cup playoffs this year, is this the last we see of Roberto Luongo in a Canucks uniform?

As many hockey fans already know, the Canucks are blessed with not one, but two goaltenders that many teams in the NHL would be pleased to call their number one starter.

Roberto Luongo is having another very good season with the odd bump in the road and Cory Schneider is doing what he does best in his limited role and that is to perform at a high level night in and night out.

As far as the upcoming playoffs are concerned, most hockey fans would likely agree, barring injury, this is Roberto’s team.

That said, if Roberto and the Canucks do not come home with a big shiny trophy, should we expect to see a changing of the guard in Vancouver this summer?

I want to hear from you. If the Canucks do not bring home the Stanley Cup this spring, do they move forward with Roberto Luongo or do they try and move his long term contract and turn the reigns over to Cory Schneider?
