The Canadian Football League will not discipline Hamilton linebacker Zeke Moreno for a controversial hit on Calgary quarterback Henry Burris in a game last Friday.
Burris was forced to the sidelines with an injury to his non-throwing shoulder. The full nature of the injury will be revealed by the Stamps on Tuesday.
The Stamps asked the CFL office to review the play and, according to a spokesperson, it was determined on Monday that there was no unnecessary roughness and, as a result, supplementary discipline is not warranted.
Stamps managing partner/president Ted Hellard told Sportsnet.ca on Sunday that "anybody reviewing the tape can clearly see (Burris) was out of bounds and on the ground when the hit occurred. In a league where protecting your star quarterback is a priority and after seeing the tape again live upon our return, we will allow the league and officials time to complete their review before making any further comment."
Apprised of the CFL's decision, Hellard declined further comment.
