A member of the Calgary Stampeders coaching staff and two players have been fined by the Canadian Football League for confronting and verbally abusing game officials following the team's 37-34 loss to Saskatchewan last Friday at Mosaic Stadium.

As first reported by Sportsnet.ca, defensive line coach Cornell Brown has been given a $2,500 fine, while cornerback Brandon Browner and defensive back Dwight Anderson will be assessed undisclosed fines.

All were involved a confrontation with referee Bud Steen and some of his crew following the game. Under terms of the agreement between players and the league, the amount of fines assessed to players are not disclosed.

The Stamps were angry after an on-side kick late in the game was ruled to be touched out of bounds. There had been some debate as to whether Browner touched the ball while out of bounds or if he caught it in bounds and landed out of bounds. Following a video replay by the officials in the upstairs booth it was ruled no player had touched the ball. The Roughriders were given the ball and ran out the clock.

En route to the Stamps' dressing room, which is across from the officials' room, a confrontation occurred involving players, Brown and Steen.

"We hold our teams, and in particular our coaches, to a high standard, especially when it comes to respect for our officials who are so integral to our game," said CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon in a statement.

The two teams play again on Thanksgiving in Calgary.
