TW LW Team Our Take
1 1
(9-2-0)
Nice to see Ben Cahoon catch a pass for the 120th straight game. He's almost in Tony Gabriel territory. Unless you pound Anthony Calvillo, the man will pick you apart all day long. The Als made it look pretty easy beating the Bombers. The Als won't be able to say the same thing Friday night when they travel to the Hammer to take on the Ticats.

Linebacker Otis Floyd: two sacks and three tackles. Slotback Arland Bruce III: two touchdown catches. Running back DeAndra Cobb: 136 yards of total offence. All three key pieces to the Ticats success are in Hamilton because of the shrewd work of general manager Bob O'Billovich. There's not a team in the CFL that wants anything to do with the Ticats this year.

It's not very often you see a defensive back like Omar Morgan return a fumble for a 108-yard touchdown, and still lose. The Riders left it all on the field but it wasn't enough in the end to stop Ricky Ray and the Eskimos. Considering that Ray completed 20 straight passes in a row at one point, it's amazing just how close of a game it was. Can't wait for the re-match Saturday at Commonwealth.

That's the thing about Ricky Ray; when he's on, he's nearly unstoppable. Just ask the Riders. Ray went an impressive 25-of-34 with two touchdowns in the Eskies thrilling win over the Riders. The win was huge as it puts the Eskies in a three-way tie for first in the West. How about Maurice Lloyd with seven tackles and a sack against his old team?

Henry Burris didn't have the kind of game Stamps fans are used to seeing. Credit the Ticats defence for most of that. But Burris has too much talent to go through an entire game with only 10 completions. Now the Stamps find themselves in a nasty three-way fight for first in the West. This means John Hufnagel can't really afford to have Burris have too many more sub-par games from here on in.

And then there was one. No one, not Frank Clair, not Eagle Keys not even Don Matthews has won more games as a head coach in the CFL than Wally Buono. Not too bad for an Italian immigrant who grew up in Montreal. Hopefully we will see more Canadian coaches on the CFL's all-time wins list in the future. Don't look know, but a few more wins and the Lions will force a four-way tie for first in the West.

It's been a long time since the Argos won a game at BC Place. I should know, I called that game way back in 2002. BC Place is like a curse for the Argos. Cody Pickett didn't really help matters when he tossed two interceptions. Just think, Bart Andrus only has to win 229 more games and he’ll be just like Wally Buono. It could be worse, they could be the Bombers.

The Bombers came to the sudden realization that this season is a complete write-off. That's why they dealt Romby Bryant and Arjei Franklin to the Stamps for some prospects and draft picks. This year's mess in Winnipeg must be killing a proud warrior like Doug Brown.
